My Projects

Welcome to my projects page. This is where I will showcase the work I have completed throughout my course. Each project will reflect the creative and technical skills I am developing across graphic design, digital media and web development.

Icosahedron Starting Project

As my starting point, I learnt more javascript code, and learnt how to use the tool of the free library from three.js. This allowed me to create a 3D shape that I can animate, change the colour of and change the lighting of the scene.

I created this to be able to learn the software required to be able to complete my project. I was able to learn the basics of Three.js and was improving my skills to code with that program.

Scroll-Narrative Main Project

This is my main project, it is about a space ship travelling through unexplored systems and recting to the planets it comes across

The primary purpose of One Last Signal is to entertain and immerse its audience through an interactive narrative experience. It is not a passive video and not a traditional game, as it occupies the space between the two. The user has agency in the form of scroll control, which allows them to determine their own pace through the story, while the narrative itself is pre-authored and fixed. The emotional goal is to leave the audience with a sense of unease, wonder, and unresolved curiosity, which are the defining qualities of effective science fiction. The story follows a probe launched from a dying Earth into an unknown star system, receiving a signal from the final planet that should not be there. The ending is deliberately ambiguous.

Project review

Overall, the feedback was largely positive, with reviewers praising the project's visual quality and immersive atmosphere. They highlighted the dark colour palette and cinematic camera movement as particularly effective, and many liked that each planet was procedurally generated because it made every visit feel unique. The scroll-driven storytelling was also described as engaging and easy to follow. However, some users noted that certain text stayed on screen for too long and that performance could be improved on lower-powered devices. A few also felt that some sections could benefit from a slightly faster pace. Overall, reviewers agreed that the project successfully combined storytelling with interactive 3D web technology and would make a strong portfolio piece.
